What's the difference between a selective and non-selective weed control product?

Selective herbicide products are formulated to control specific weeds or weed categories. A material that is toxic to some plant species but less toxic to others.
Non-Selective herbicide products are formulated to control both broadleaf and grass weeds.

What is a residual weedkiller?

A type of weedkiller that leaves a barrier on the surface treated to prevent new germination for a period of time.

GRAZON xc

Grazon was introduced as a range and pasture herbicide for one reason; to increase grass production in western Canadian pastures and rangeland. It is a herbicide which provides effective control of broad spectrum annual and perennial, broad leaf weeds, brush and trees. When Grazon is applied, increased grass production is the result.

Par III

Par III is a broad-spectrum herbicide specially formulated to control hard-to-kill annual and perennial weeds in turfgrass.

TORDON 22K

Tordon 22K is for the control of deep rooted perennials and biennial weeds on rangeland, permanent grass pastures and non cropland.

2, 4-D

2,4-D is the standard in broadleaf weed control. It is used to control broadleaf weeds in a variety of crops, pastures and non-crop land.

Restore II

Restore Liquid with fluridone is a selective, root killing, systemic herbicide. Restore Liquid is very similar to Sonar AS controlling weeds in fresh water ponds, lakes, reservoirs, irrigation canals and drainage ditches.

Taking off in BC new chemistry available for controlling pesky weeds in newly seeded alfalfa grass crops.

ROUND UP

Roundup kills weed to the root so they don’t come back. Great for lawn renovation/replacement projects and treating large weedy areas. This product is non-selective. It is used in a wide range of crops for burndown but also post-emergence between rows over the top in glyphosate-tolerant crops.

MILESTONE

Milestone herbicide is a new liquid formulation herbicide from Dow AgroSciences designed and developed specifically for use on rangeland, permanant pasture, industrial and other non crop areas. It controls noxious and invasive broadleaf species and other problem weeds.

RECLAIM II

Reclaim II provides extended control of western snowberry, prairie wild rose, shrubby cinquefoil (wolf willow), Canada thistle, dandelion, pasture sage, and prairie sage in rangeland and permanent pasture. It is safe in desirable grasses.
